Collaboration between FIOBI-HULP and CENIM-CSIC groups
Group: CENIM-CSIC
Country:Spain
Description:The collaboration between FIOBI-HULP and CENIM-CSIC aims to identify metallic/polymer composites for fracture fixation and tissue engineering applications. To this aim, CENIM-CSIC has provided FIOBI-HULP poly-lactic acid (PLA) composites containing magnesium particles developed by injection or extrusion compression moulding. FIOBI-HULP has studied the effects of magnesium incorporated into PLA on mesenchymal stem cell and macrophage responses.

Collaboration between FIOBI-HULP and GTP-UC3M groups
Group: GTP-UC3M
Country:Spain
Description:The collaboration between FIOBI-HULP and GTP-UC3M aims to identify biocompatible metallic materials developed by GTP-UC3M. To this aim, GTP-UC3M has provided FIOBI-HULP with novel titanium alloys generated by means of powder metallurgy. FIOBI-HULP has studied the behavior of osteoblastic and mesenchymal stem cells cultured on these materials, and has collaborated in assays aimed to study the corrosive behavior of the alloys after immersion in media who mimic physiological fluids.
